My name is Malcolm, I am English and the
proud Owner and Skipper of the sailing yacht Freya.
I have been sailing for over 20
years - dinghy's and keel-boats and took early retirement nine years ago in
order to fulfill my dream of sailing (slowly) around the world. Prior to purchasing Freya in Gothenberg, Sweden in May 2009, I
had spent the previous few years sailing in the Caribbean, Thailand, Malaysia and
the Mediterranean, completing one Atlantic crossing and over 10,000 NM. Having sailed Freya across the North Sea from Sweden to the UK in 2009, I carried out a comprehensive re-fit to prepare her for extended blue
water cruising. In May 2010 Freya sailed from the UK to the Mediterranean - Greece and Turkey, completing 4,868 NM before mooring up for the winter in Kos. 2011 has seen Freya completing another 2,626 NM in Greece and Turkey prior to mooring up for the winter in Agios Nikolaos, Crete. 2012 has seen Freya completing another 2,148 NM in Greece and Turkey prior to mooring up again for the winter in Agios Nikolaos, Crete. 2013 has seen Freya completing another 3,686 NM in Greece and Sicily, Mediterranean, Madeira and Canary Islands before embarking on a 3,077 NM passage across the Atlantic - arriving in St Lucia on 23rd December. 2014 has seen Freya complete another 2,214 NM in the Caribbean cruising the Virgin Islands, Windward's and Leeward's before arriving in Bonaire for the hurricane season. 2015 has seen Freya complete another 3,042 NM in the Caribbean cruising the Virgin Islands, Windward's and Leeward's before arriving in Grenada for the hurricane season. 2016 has seen Freya complete another 3,673 NM in the Caribbean cruising the Cayman Islands, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Windward's and Leeward's and Trinidad before arriving in Bonaire for the hurricane season.
